Today Lead futures drop 0.58% on diminishing demand

 
Lead futures were trading lower during morning trade in the domestic market on Friday as investors and speculators cut down their positions in the industrial metal amid subdued physical demand for lead, from battery-makers, in the domestic spot market.

Further, a downward trend in physical demand from battery-makers in the domestic spot market, influenced prices of lead at futures trade.

At the MCX, lead futures for March 2017 contract is trading at Rs 153.45 per kg, down by 0.58 per cent, after opening at Rs 153.30, against a previous close of Rs 154.35. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 153.20

Today Lead futures surge as Demand picks up in market

 
Lead futures jumped over 1 per cent during morning trade in the domestic market on Friday as investors and speculators widened their bets in the industrial metal amid pick up in physical demand for lead, from battery-makers, in the domestic spot market.

Further, an upward trend in physical demand from battery-makers in the domestic spot markets, supported lead prices at futures trade.

At the MCX, lead futures for December 2016 contract is trading at Rs 134.15 per kg, up by 1.09 per cent, after opening at Rs 133.70, against a previous close of Rs 132.70. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 134.40.

lead futures lifts by 1.13% for Spot demand in market

 
Lead futures rose during morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators extended their positions in the industrial metal amid surge in physical demand for lead, from battery-makers, in the domestic spot market.

Further, an upward trend in physical demand from battery-makers in the domestic spot market, supported prices of lead at futures trade.

At the MCX, lead futures for December 2016 contract is trading at Rs 161.60 per kg, up by 1.13 per cent, after opening at Rs 162.05, against a previous close of Rs 159.80. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 162.20 .

Lead futures up on spot demand during the morning trade

 
Lead futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday on rising demand from battery makers.

Furthermore, a firming trend in base metals overseas supported the upside in metal prices.

At the MCX, lead futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 133.35 per kg, up by 0.11 per cent, after opening at Rs 133.20, against a previous close of Rs 133.20. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 133.45.

Today Lead futures up 0.74% on Robust demand in Market

 
Lead futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as participants started building up fresh positions in the industrial metal on account of increase in physical demand for lead, from battery-makers, in the domestic spot market.

Further, a rise in demand from battery-makers in the domestic spot market, supported prices of lead at the domestic spot markets.

At the MCX, lead futures for September 2016 contract is trading at Rs 130.10 per kg, up by 0.74 per cent, after opening at Rs 129.85, against a previous close of Rs 129.15. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 130.20 .

Today Lead futures surge on spot demand at the Market


Lead futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as participants widened their positions in the industrial metal amid a surge in physical demand for lead, from battery-makers, in the domestic spot market.

Further, increase in demand from battery-makers in the domestic spot market, supported the prices of lead in the spot markets. At the MCX, Lead futures for August 2016 contract is trading at Rs 121.15 per kg, up by 0.29 per cent, after opening at Rs 120.80, against a previous close of Rs 120.80. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 121.30

At the MCX, Aluminum futures for June 2016 contract is trading at Rs 107.85 per kg, up by 0.23 per cent, after opening at Rs 108, against a previous close of Rs 107.60. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 108.05

Sensex, Nifty closed on account of 'Ram Navami' : Asia subdued

The Domestic stock market will remain closed on Friday on account of a public holiday while Asian markets remain subdued as caution toward a weekend meeting of oil producers tempered risk sentiment.
 
US crude oil dipped 4 cents to $41.46 a barrel from its peak of $42 on concerns that the top producers' meeting may not result in tightening of supply.
 
Nifty India stock futures in Singapore were trading 4 point lower at 7,924. The index gained over 50 points in the previous sessions even though the domestic market remained shut on account of public holiday.
 
Japan's Nikkei 225 index which was trading 0.34 per cent lower at 16,853 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was trading 0.20 per cent lower at 21,310.
 
China shares remain subdued after data suggested that the world's second-largest economy grew at 6.7 per cent in the first quarter from a year earlier, meeting expectations.
 
Overnight, US stocks ended marginally higher in muted trading on Thursday, propped up by financial stocks. Bank of America and Wells Fargo posted lower quarterly profits and increased provisions to cover bad loans from their stressed energy portfolios,
 
Back home, investors will keep a close eye on Infosys results for the quarter ended March 31 which will be out later today.
 
Infosys, one of India's largest outsourcing firm, is expected to report 1.4 per cent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) rise in net profit to Rs 3,514 crore for the quarter ended March 31, compared to Rs 3,465 crore reported in the year-ago period.

Eros Media slumps 10% as Q3 net profit decline by 65%

Shares of Eros International Media slumped about 10 per cent in Wednesday's trade after the company reported a 65 per cent decline in Q3 profit. The company's net profit for the quarter ending December 30 stood at Rs 37.77 crore against Rs 109.34 crore reported for the same quarter of last financial year. 
 
Reacting to the earnings, the scrip fell 9.59 per cent to hit a low of Rs 180 on the BSE.
 
Net sales during the period under review fell 31.65 per cent to Rs 335.38 crore against Rs 395.34 crore in the corresponding period last financial year, the company said in a filing to BSE.

Budget 2016 : Tax Benefits for Gems & Jewellery Likely

The Government is considering a package of tax incentives for the labour-intensive gems and jewellery sectors in the forthcoming Budget to provide a boost to manufacturing as well as exports, reported PTI. For gems and jewellery, which is also the thrust sector under the 'Make in India' programme, the industry has asked to raise customs duty to 15 per cent from the current 10 per cent and abolish the excise duty from the current rate of 6 er cent on imitation jewellery. The suggestions assumes significance as the popularity of Indian imitation jewellery across the globe is increasing and there is a huge demand in countries including the US and Europe. "Extending the tax benefits to the sector will enable competitive manufacturing in the country and also boost exports," media reports added. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will unveil the Budget on February 29.

Evening Updates - Lead rises 0.94 pct on drop in stockpiles


Lead prices rose by 0.94 per cent on Thursday at the domestic markets due to the decline in the lead stockpiles at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on account of the strong demand for the commodity. LME lead stocks fell by 975 metric tonnes to 185100 metric tonnes as on February 4, 2016.

At the MCX, Lead futures, for the February 2016 contract, is trading at Rs 123.60 per kg, up by 0.94 per cent, after opening at Rs 123.55, against a previous close of Rs 122.45. It touched an intra-day high of Rs 124.25 till the trading.
 
Prices also rose due to high demand from battery-makers and other consuming industries at the domestic spot market as well as a strong trend at the global market.

Zinc Updates - Weak buying activity drags down Zinc futures


Zinc Updates -  Zinc futures fell by 1.81 per cent to Rs 108.45 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions in the midst of a weak trend overseas. Besides, low demand in domestic spot markets fuelled the downtrend. Zinc futures for January 2016 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs 108.45 per kg, down by 1.81 per cent after opening at Rs. 109.30 against the previous closing price of Rs. 110.45. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 108.15 till the trading.

However, losses were curbed due to the decline in the zinc stockpiles at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on account of the strong demand for the commodity. LME zinc stocks fell by 2700 metric tonnes to 473325 metric tonnes as on February 1, 2016.
 
Major refined zinc exporting countries are Canada, Australia and Rep. of Korea, while major refined zinc importing countries are China, USA and Germany.

Lead Tips - Lead prices fell by 0.27 per cent on Monday at the domestic markets as a result of low demand for the commodity from battery-maker in the spot market in the midst of weak overseas trend.

However, losses were curbed due to the decline in the lead stockpiles at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on account of the strong demand for the commodity. Cabinet Clears New Crop Insurance Scheme


The Government on Wednesday has given its approval to a crop insurance scheme that would replace the existing ones to ensure that farmers pay less premium and get early claims for the full sum insured.

A decision on the much awaited scheme was taken at the Cabinet meeting, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The cabinet has cleared the agriculture ministry’s proposal on new crop insurance scheme,” according to sources.
The new crop insurance scheme, to be implemented from the kharif season this year, will replace the existing two schemes National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and Modified NAIS which have some inherent drawbacks.

Evening Update - Lead Gains On Drop In Inventories


Lead prices rose by 0.64 per cent on Friday at the domestic markets due to a decline in lead stockpiles at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on account of the strong demand for the commodity. LME lead stocks fell by 100 metric tonnes to 191175 metric tonnes as on January 8, 2016.

Lead drops 1.52% on weak industrial Demand



Lead prices fell by 1.52 per cent on Monday at the Domestic markets as a result of low demand for the commodity from battery-maker in the spot market in the midst of weak overseas trend. At the MCX, Lead futures, for the December 2015 contract, is trading at Rs 116.75 per kg, down by 1.52 per cent, after opening at Rs 117.45, against a previous close of Rs 118.55. It touched an intra-day low of Rs 115.85 till the trading. (At 3.30 PM today).
 
The London Metal Exchange (LME) lead stocks remained unchanged at 191650 metric tonnes as on January 4, 2016.

SBI raises Rs 4,000 crore via tier-II bonds


Country's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) on Thursday said it has raised Rs 4,000 crore by issuing tier-II bonds on private placement basis under the Basel-III norms.

"The bank on December 23, 2015 issued 40,000 Basel-III compliant tier-ll bonds in the nature of debentures of face value of Rs 10,00,000 each at par with 10-year tenure, bearing 8.33 per cent per annum coupon and with call option after 5 years, aggregating to Rs 4,000 crore on private placement basis," SBI said in a filing to the BSE.
 
However, State Bank of India did not elaborate on the usage of proceeds.
 
The PSU lender on Monday had said it was planning to raise up to Rs 12,000 crore by issuing tier-II bonds on private placement basis.
 
The Committee of Directors' authorised the bank to raise up to Rs 12,000 crore by way of "issue of Basel-III compliant tier-II bonds, at par, through private placement," it had said.
 
According to a Fitch Ratings report, Indian banks need USD 140 billion capital to ensure full compliance with the Basel-III norms by 2018-19. The Basel-III norms are aimed at bolstering banks' resilience. Basel-III capital regulations are being implemented in India with effect from April 1, 2013 in a phased manner. Shares of SBI were trading at Rs 228.95 apiece on the BSE, down 0.41 per cent from its previous close.
