Gold Down on Renewed Rate Hike Prospect

Gold futures closed lower in the domestic market on Friday as renewed expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike later this year boosted the U.S. dollar and as investors looked to buy into rising equity markets rather than purchasing safe-haven assets.

A recent string of better than expected U.S. data reignited speculation that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates before the end of the year. Gold is sensitive to moves in U.S. rates. A gradual path to higher rates is seen as less of a threat to gold prices than a swift series of increases.

At the MCX, Gold futures for August 2016 contract closed at Rs 30877, per 10 gram, down by 0.41 per cent after opening at Rs 30,952, against the previous closing price of Rs 31,005. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 30,780.

Gold Regains its Shine on Dovish Yellen comments

Gold futures rebounded in the domestic and overseas market on Tuesday as investors and speculators cheered comments from Fed Chair Janet Yellen who signaled caution over raising interest rates in the near-term amid worries over a global slowdown hurting growth in the world’s biggest economy, bolstering the lure for the yellow metal as a store of value.

http://www.researchvia.com/commodity-mcx-ncdex/
Yellen called for a slower pace of US interest rate tightening as she stressed that the rate of inflation in the US hasn’t yet proven to be sustainable in the wake of rising global risks that could slow growth in the American economy.

A diminished chance of a Fed rate hike next month sunk the US dollar, bolstering demand for dollar-denominated assets such as Gold. Weaker greenback makes the precious metal cheaper for those holding other currencies, thus bolstering bullion demand. Read More - Mcx Tips

Gold Gains After Multiple Explosions Hit Brussels

http://www.researchvia.com/free-trials/
Gold prices closed higher in the domestic market on Tuesday as a series of explosions in Brussels sparked a wave of risk aversion, boosting appetite for safe-haven assets. Risk sentiment took a hit after explosions tore through the departure hall of Brussels airport on Tuesday morning killing at least 26 people and injuring 35 others and a second blast struck a metro station in the capital shortly afterwards. The blasts at the airport and metro station occurred four days after the arrest in Brussels of a suspected participant in November militant attacks in Paris that killed 130 people. Meanwhile, traders weighed comments from a top US Fed official who saw an interest rate hike likely in April, dimming the lure for the bullion as a store of value. The Fed last week had indicated a slower than earlier anticipated pace of monetary tightening. At the MCX, Gold futures for April 2016 contract closed at Rs 29,049 per 10 gram, up by 0.37 per cent after opening at Rs 28,961, against the previous closing price of Rs 28,941. Gold Updates - Yellow Metal Shines On Fed Rate Outlook.

Gold futures jumped by more than 1 per cent in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators booked fresh positions in the precious metal tracking a bullish international trend as a weaker dollar bolstered the lure for the bullion as a store of value while the Fed’s indication that it will raise interest rates more slowly than earlier anticipated boosted the gold’s appeal as a store of value.

Weaker greenback makes gold cheaper for those holding other currencies, thus bolstering demand.  The Fed forecast two interest rate hikes of 25 bps each this year down from four previously, as it acknowledged the rising risks to the US economy from global economic and financial weakness.

The world’s top central bank kept unchanged its target range for the benchmark federal funds rate between 0.25 to 0.5 per cent and cut its median US growth forecast for 2016 to 2.2 per cent from 2.4 per cent, while that for next year was slashed to 2.1 per cent from 2.2 per cent.

The Fed, on Tuesday kicked off a two-day monetary policy meet, in which the world’s top central bank is likely to offer cues over the path to raising interest rates further following a maiden hike in borrowing costs in almost a decade in December.

While the Fed is likely to keep interest rates unchanged on Wednesday, the tone of its statement will be keenly watched to assess the trajectory of further rate hikes in the world’s biggest economy. An indication by the Fed to delay further tightening of interest rates could boost gold’s appeal as a store of value.

Gold Updates - Gold Shines On Rising Safe Haven Demand

Gold futures advanced in the domestic market on Tuesday as a renewed decline in global equities and falling oil prices amid fresh fears over the health of the world economy spurred a demand for safe haven assets.
Equities from Asia to Europe and the US slid as Japan’s economy contracted by 1.1 per cent annualized pace in the fourth quarter of last year while China’s exports tumbled the most since May 2009 in February 2016, causing a flight to the safety of the yellow metal.          Read More - "Stock Tips"

http://www.researchvia.com/commodity-mcx-ncdex/
Gold futures jumped in the domestic and international market on Thursday as fresh signs of underlying weakness in the world’s biggest economy bolstered the safe haven lure for the yellow metal while a weaker dollar boosted the appeal of the bullion as an alternative investment. Weaker greenback makes gold cheaper for those holding other currencies, thus boosting demand.

Services growth in the US slowed for a fourth month on the trot in February 2016 as the industry shed jobs for the first time in two years.

Further, the number of Americans who filed to claim unemployment insurance benefits rose last week while factory orders climbed a less than expected 1.6 per cent in January.

Weaker than expected data also raised speculation that the US Federal Reserve may delay further interest rate hikes, bolstering the appeal of Gold as a store of value.

Gold Updates - Yellow metal Gold Gains from Safe Haven Lure

Gold futures finished higher in the domestic market on Monday tracking strong gains in the overseas market as weakness in stocks fostered the appetite of the yellow metal as a safe haven bet.

http://www.researchvia.com/commodity-pack/

Concerns over global economic growth remained amid underwhelming US housing data with pending home sales tumbling the most in two years last month and a gauge of business activity falling into contraction, spurring a flight to the safety of the bullion.

Finance Chiefs from the Group of 20 countries which met at Shanghai over the weekend failed to offer any specific measures to boost growth in the current period of heightened financial volatility as concerns over China and a commodity downturn derail the global economic recovery.

With no major policy changes, global growth is likely to meander along, keeping investors interested in safe haven assets such as the yellow metal.

Gold, a hedge against the inflationary risk of monetary stimulus also benefited from China’s decision to cut the reserve requirement ratio for banks by 0.5 percentage point.

Gold may extend gains today as dismal China factory data signaled a worsening economic slowdown, bolstering safe haven demand.

At the MCX, Gold futures for April 2016 contract closed at Rs 29,513 per 10 gram, up by 0.60 per cent after opening at Rs 29,409, against the previous closing price of Rs 29,337. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 29,750.

Gold Updtes - Gold slips on Bullish US data in the Domestic Market .

Gold Updates - Gold futures tumbled in the domestic market on Friday tracking a bearish trend in the overseas market as a stronger dollar curbed the appeal of the yellow metal as an alternative asset.

Stronger greenback makes gold more expensive for those holding other currencies, thus dimming demand.

Robust US economic data signaled strength in the world’s biggest economy, raising speculation that interest rates may rise sooner than earlier expected, dimming the lure for the bullion as a store of value.

While US economic growth for the fourth quarter was revised upwards to 1 per cent annualized pace from an earlier 0.7 per cent, the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge rose by the most since October 2014, up 0.1 per cent in January 2016 from the previous month and 1.3 per cent from the same month a year ago, raising the case for a continuation of rate tightening.

Gold may fall today as safe haven appeal ebbs after the G20 leaders committed to use fiscal policy to bolster economic growth and job creation.

At the MCX, Gold futures for April 2016 contract closed at Rs 29,337 per 10 gram, down by 1.47 per cent after opening at Rs 29,650, against the previous closing price of Rs 29,774. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 29,152.

Gold tracking the Biggest Rally in the Domestic Market on Wednesday

Gold futures advanced in the domestic market on Wednesday tracking the biggest rally in nearly two weeks overseas as a retreat in global equities amidst concerns over a fast faltering global economic recovery spurred the demand for safe haven assets such as the yellow metal.

Global stocks fell for a second straight day while the dollar erased a gain against a basket of ten global currencies, bolstering the lure for the bullion as an alternative asset.

An IMF report showed that central banks from Kazakhstan to Russia were boosting bullion holdings.

Weak US economic data with services falling back into contraction in February and sales of new homes dropping more than forecast in January upped bets that the US Federal Reserve may push back the timetable for hiking interest rates further following a maiden lift-off in almost a decade in December, bolstering the lure for Gold as a store of value.

Gold may trade on a cautious note today ahead of US jobless claims and durable goods orders data.

At the MCX, Gold futures for April 2016 contract closed at Rs 29,554 per 10 gram, up by 0.86 per cent after opening at Rs 29,403, against the previous closing price of Rs 29,302. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 29,936.
