Air India likely to make 6% profit this fiscal

Air India - For the first time since merger of Indian Airlines into Air India, the national carrier is likely to report an operating profit of about Rs six crores in the current fiscal, owing to a combination of factors including lower fuel costs and Dreamliner operations, among others.
http://www.researchvia.com/free-trials/
The Dreamliners (Boeing 787-800) are helping the company to turnaround it's business in a big way, said Anil Mehta, the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the AI Chairman and Managing Director. At present, the state-run carrier has 21 Boeing 787-800 aircraft in its fleet of 107 planes.

"These (Dreamliner) aircraft have reduced our operating costs and increased our operating revenues in recent years... we will post an operating profit in the range of Rs 6 to Rs 7 crore this year," Mehta said during a press conference here today.

Mehta claimed that unlike the older aircraft having 195 seat capacity, the new Dreamliner is capable to take 256 passengers in single flight, enabling Air India to cover it's costs for the flights it operates through these aircraft.

"Such increase in seat capacity is a decisive factor in this business, as we are now able to take more passengers in single flight," he said.In addition, these aircraft burn less fuel and that has helped the airline reduce its fuel bill and the subsequent reduction in losses as well, he said.

Civil Aviation Secretary R N Choubey had also early last month said Air India was going to report operating profit, about Rs six crore, in this financial year. The airline is benefiting from fall in crude oil prices and improved operational efficiency, he had said.Besides, better on-time performance and increased availability of passenger aircraft have helped (Air India) in improving operational efficiency, Choubey had said.

Crude updates and Mcx commodity tips for 30 April 2015

Mcx commodity tips: Crude oil futures surged in the domestic and overseas market on Wednesday as investors and speculators booked fresh positions in the energy commodity as a weaker dollar boosted the demand for the fuel as an alternative asset. Weaker greenback makes crude cheaper for those holding other currencies, thus bolstering demand. Further, better than expected US stockpiles data eased fears over a worsening global supply glut. While US crude supplies rose for a sixteenth week on the trot to a record high, those at Cushing, the US’ largest oil storage hub fell. EIA said that US crude supplies climbed 1.91 million barrels to 490.9 million barrels in the week ended April 24, 2015, compared to analysts estimates of a 3.3 million barrels uptick. Meanwhile, stockpiles at Cushing fell by 514,000 barrels to 61.7 million barrels last week. Refineries in the US operated at 91.3 per cent of their capacity, up from 91.2 per cent in the last week, signaling a pickup in fuel desired. Investors shrugged off tepid US GDP data which showed that the world’s biggest economy grew only 0.2 per cent in Q1 following a 2.2 per cent increase in the previous quarter with gains in consumer spending slowing to 1.9 per cent from 4.4 per cent in Q4. Meanwhile, contracts to buy previously owned homes in the US rose sharply last month, signaling a pickup in the country’s housing market, supporting crude. US pending home sales climbed 1.1 per cent in March from the previous month when they climbed a revised 3.6 per cent. Oil may extend a rally today as slowing gains in US supplies boost sentiment. At the MCX, Crude oil futures, for the May 2015 contract, ended at Rs 3,755 per barrel, upward by 3.56 per cent, after opening at Rs 3,607, against the previous close price of Rs 3,626. It touched an intraday high of Rs 3,771 till the closing.

Chana prices closed lower by 0.05 per cent on Wednesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of the steady sowing progress of pulses along with high supplies in major producing states. At the NCDEX, chana futures for May 2015 contract closed at Rs. 4,205 per quintal, down by 0.05 %, after opening at Rs. 4,210 against the last closing price of Rs. 4,207. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 4,185.

Gold futures closed higher in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators booked fresh positions in the precious metal as a weaker dollar boosted the demand for the precious metal as an alternative asset. Weaker greenback makes gold cheaper for those holding other currencies, thus bolstering demand. Further, the US Federal Reserve stuck to its record low interest rate policy stance amid slowing growth in the world’s biggest economy, bolstering the appeal of the bullion as a store of value. The Fed re-iterated that it will undertake a maiden US interest rate lift-off since 2006, only when it sees improvement in the labour market while it saw inflation moving back to the 2 per cent goal gradually. With the economy barely growing up in Q1 and consumer spending & job gains slowing, analysts have pared back expectations of an initial rate rise to September from June earlier. Gold may extend gains today amid dimming expectations of a near-term US rate hike.

At the MCX, Gold futures for June 2015 contract closed at Rs 27,238 per 10 gram, up by 0.18 per cent after opening at Rs 27,123, against the last ending price of Rs 27,190. It touched the intra-day maximum of Rs 27,274 till the closing.

Zinc futures raised in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators booked fresh positions in the industrial metal amid a pickup in physical demand for zinc in the domestic spot market. Investors cast aside a drop in economic sentiment in the Euro area which signaled a slowing recovery in the 19-member economy. The gauge measuring Euro area economic sentiment fell to 103.7 in April from 103.9 in March.

At the MCX, Zinc futures for April 2015 contract closed at Rs 165.6 per 1 kg, up by 2.79 per cent after opening at Rs 161.1, against the previous closing price of Rs 161.50. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 166.6 till the closing.

Stock Market News and Free trading tips for 28 April 2015

Stock Market News: Natural Gas futures slumped in the domestic and overseas market on Monday as investors and speculators exited positions in the energy commodity amid bets that the end of the winter season may curb demand for the heating fuel. Latest weather forecasting models called for mostly mild weather across the US. About 49 per cent of American households use natural gas for heating purposes.

At the MCX, Natural Gas futures for April 2015 contract closed at Rs 157.3 per 1 kg, down by 2.48 per cent after opening at Rs 160, against the previous closing price of Rs 161.3. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 155.4 till the closing.

Crude oil futures jumped in the domestic market on Monday as investors and speculators continued to book profits in the energy commodity which hit the highest level this year last week as the worsening conflict in Yemen sparked concerns over supply disruptions from the oil-rich Middle East, and a falling oil rig count signaled lower US production, going forward. Still, investors remained skeptical amid record US supplies which have surged for 15 straight weeks and now stand at an all-time high of 489 million barrels. Meanwhile, US services activity expanded at a weaker clip in April while a regional factory gauge plunged, signaling a deepening slowdown in the world’s biggest economy, clouding the demand outlook for the fuel. The gauge measuring US services fell to 57.8 in April from 59.2 in March, with a reading above 50 signaling expansion. The index measuring manufacturing in the Texas region fell to -16 this month from -17.4 in March, below the reading of 0 that separates expansion from contraction. Oil may extend its bearish ride today on expectations that US crude stockpiles rose for 16 straight weeks and after Saudi Arabia said that it was willing to supply China additional fuel, if needed.

At the MCX, Crude oil futures, for the May 2015 contract, closed at Rs 3,611 per barrel, down by 1.07 per cent, after opening at Rs 3,642, against the previous close price of Rs 3,650. It touched an intraday low of Rs 3,601 till the ending.

Zinc prices rose by 0.98 per cent on Monday at the domestic markets due to the decline in the zinc stockpiles at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on account of the strong demand for the commodity. LME zinc stocks fell by 2650 metric tonnes to 478725 metric tonnes as on 27 April 2015. Zinc futures for April 2015 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs 144.50/kg, upward by 0.98 % after opening at Rs. 143.30 against the last ending price of Rs. 143.10. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 145.40 till the trading.

The world’s current political, economic or petroleum problems are temporary and their effect on the whole world system is limited”.

A sustained progress in the labour market of the world’s largest economy also lifted the desired outlook for the fuel. Crude Oil futures Jumped in the Domestic and Overseas Market

Crude oil futures jumped in the domestic and overseas market on Monday after Saudi Arabia, the world’s biggest oil exporter, raised prices for its Asian buyers amid an improvement in refining margins. The most prominent crude player in the OPEC cut the discount on its main Arab light grade crude oil May sales to Asia as demand from refiners in the region improved. State-owned Saudi Arabian Oil Co., known as Saudi Aramco, has upped official selling prices for Asia for a second straight month while the country’s Oil Minister signaled an improvement in global demand, offering a boost to crude oil prices which have been battered amid fears over a worsening global supply glut. Investors are also betting that it may take some time for Iranian oil to return to the market even as the Islamic nation struck a preliminary nuclear accord with six global powers last week, with the deadline for the final deal being June 30. Despite the landmark nuclear accord, the pace of increasing of economic and financial sanctions against Iran is expected to be very slow to ensure compliance. Oil may extend gains today amid bets that the pace of US stockpile-build may slow while Iranian oil may make a very gradual return. At the MCX, Crude oil futures, for the April 2015 contract, ended at Rs 3,254 per barrel, up by 7.15 %, after opening at Rs 3,075, against the previous close price of Rs 3,037.
