Stock Market News : Natural Gas futures closed higher in the domestic market on Tuesday as investors and speculators booked fresh positions in the energy commodity as optimism over the demand outlook for the energy commodity and declining US production powered the rally in the weather-sensitive fuel. Forecasts for slightly warmer weather in parts of the US bolstered the demand prospects for the fuel which is used to fire up power plants that are feeding air conditioners as the need for cooling offices and homes arises.
At the MCX, Natural Gas futures for June 2015 contract closed at Rs 171.70 per 1 kg, up by 0.88 per cent after opening at Rs 170, against the previous closing price of Rs 170.20. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 172.60 till the closing.
Maize prices closed higher by 0.78 per cent on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of a rise in the demand from exporters and poultry industries. At NCDEX, maize futures for June 2015 contract closed at Rs. 1,160 per quintal, up by 0.78 per cent, after opening at Rs. 1,149 against the previous closing price of Rs. 1,151. It touched the intra-day maximum of Rs. 1,170.
